I find Whales very interesting and the more you look at them the more surprised you are by their anatomy and scale. The pectoral flippers came through the bisque firing fine however, after the glazing they became twisted and learned they were too thin. Subsequently I made my next whale with much thicker flippers and tried a different style. I am happy with the colour and effect through sponging many layers and achieved a more matt naturalistic finish. I had a piece of driftwood I found on the beach and kept for years waiting for a project that would do it justice and wanted the whale to be mounted on it. (Unfortunately it has suffered a chip to it).
